Marine Electrical Systems

A ship's electrical network does not forgive shortcuts: it is islanded, it lives in a corrosive environment, it vibrates continuously, and there is nowhere for a mistake to go.

We install, maintain and upgrade electrical systems on commercial vessels and yachts — from the generator and main switchboard down to the last lighting circuit and the last starter.

Scope of work

  • Installation and renewal of power and lighting circuits
  • Distribution boards, group starter panels and local machinery panels
  • Cabling, penetrations, sealing and correct support in a vibrating environment
  • Electric motors: testing, starters, soft starters and inverters
  • Inverter (VFD) drives: installation, parameter setup and replacement — cargo pump fans, fans and pumps
  • Bow thruster: power and control circuits, starter, bridge controls and interlocks
  • Insulation resistance, earth continuity measurement and connection thermography
  • Emergency lighting and navigation light systems
  • Electrical support for deck machinery, pumps and auxiliaries
  • Technical support and pre-survey inspections

Typical symptoms & failures

  • Low insulation across a whole section with no located fault point
  • Hot connections and discoloured terminals in switchboards
  • Cable sheathing damaged at penetrations
  • Motors with repeated winding failures
  • Survey observations that come back every year

What you receive

  • Insulation and earthing measurement protocol
  • Thermographic record of critical boards
  • Updated drawings for every circuit modified
  • Findings list prioritised by risk

Equipment & protocols

  • Marine-grade cable, glands and sealing components
  • Enclosures and materials suitable for marine service
  • Insulation, power-quality and temperature instruments
  • Work carried out to IEC 60092 and class requirements

Frequently asked questions

Do you also work on yachts?

Yes. The engineering is the same; the scale and equipment differ. We serve commercial vessels and commercial or private yachts.

Can you prepare a vessel for survey?

Yes — preventive inspection, measurements, rectification of findings and documentation, so that known issues do not become observations.

Do you work on high-voltage systems?

HV work requires specific authorisations and is agreed case by case; contact us with the installation details.
