DEIF Controller Programming & Commissioning

A modern generator controller carries hundreds of parameters. Ten of them decide whether the vessel blacks out within a year; the rest usually stay at factory defaults because nobody knows what they do.

We take on parameter setup from scratch, correction of an existing configuration, logic programming and commissioning against real tests — and we hand over the parameter file, so the vessel is not dependent on us for the next change.

Scope of work

  • Full controller configuration from a clean base or from backup
  • Protection settings with values that are justified, not defaults
  • Logic programming (M-Logic or equivalent) for vessel-specific requirements
  • I/O, virtual input/output and control-command configuration
  • CAN bus / Modbus communication setup to engine, AMS and SCADA
  • Firmware upgrades with documented settings migration
  • Event-log reading and incident analysis after a trip
  • Backup, documentation and short crew handover

Typical symptoms & failures

  • A controller that refuses a start or stop command with no obvious cause
  • Lost parameter password
  • Settings that 'changed by themselves' after a unit swap
  • Unreadable or inconsistent alarms on the display
  • Communication to the AMS dropping periodically
  • A new unit fitted but never properly configured

What you receive

  • Exported parameter file and logic backup
  • Protection settings table with the reasoning behind every value
  • Commissioning protocol with test results
  • A one-page crew instruction for each typical alarm

Equipment & protocols

  • DEIF AGC series and Multi-line 2 platforms
  • Manufacturer configuration software and diagnostic tools
  • CAN bus and Modbus analysis tools
  • Signal sources for I/O verification

Frequently asked questions

We lost the unit password. Can it be recovered?

In most cases yes, through the manufacturer's defined procedure and with proof of ownership from the owner.

Can the unit be configured remotely?

For reading and analysis, often yes, where secure access exists. Changes affecting protection and paralleling are always verified by testing onboard.

What does a 'justified' protection setting mean?

That every value follows from the generator's characteristics, the short-circuit study and coordination with the rest of the protection chain — and that it is written down where the next engineer can find it.
